One Little Word, Unicorn Theatre Ticket Comp

As regular readers will know I’m a big fan of the Unicorn Theatre in London and we have taken Master ATWWAH to a few shows there.  The theatre runs productions throughout the year with quite a few aimed at babies, toddlers and young children.  It is a great way to introduce your children to theatre and live performance.

The performance space is big enough, but not too daunting, and often the seating arrangement for productions is brilliant for children.  When we went to see a show at Christmas we sat on the floor.  Heckling is usually indulged, often children get excited and blurt things out loudly during the performance, and whenever I’ve seen it happen the actors have reacted brilliantly.

There is also loads going on for older children and teenagers too with productions to suit all ages and even workshops during school holidays.

The upcoming production, One Little Word, is aimed at 3-6 year olds and is a moving story of friendship and power struggles.  Two characters play together, exploring new space, new objects, dressing up and taking turns.  However, there is a bit of a power struggle when one of them decides there is only room for one captain.

Dot Wood, producer at M6, the company behind the production, explains ‘One Little Word is a play without language – well almost! Its accessibility, therefore, is greatly increased. It is a deceptively simple story but is in no way simplistic. Although the play is aimed at 3 – 6 year olds, children of all ages and their families have been captivated’
